One of the greatest T20 spinners of all time, Rashid Khan is the most celebrated Afghanistan cricketer in both international cricket and the TATA IPL. He rose to prominence during the 2016 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where his control and wicket-taking ability marked him out as a rare talent, soon earning him a contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Between 2017 and 2021, Rashid became the face of SRH’s bowling attack, claiming 93 wickets - the most for them in this span - at a remarkable economy of 6.33. Rashid’s dominance extends well beyond the IPL. Currently Afghanistan’s T20 captain, he is the leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 193 wickets and was the fastest to 100 scalps in the format, reaching the milestone in just 53 matches. He moved to Gujarat Titans in 2022 and played a key role in their title-winning debut season. His most productive IPL campaign came in 2023, when he picked up 27 wickets in 17 matches, including a hat-trick, while also scoring his only IPL fifty till date - 79* (32) against Mumbai Indians. Entering IPL 2026, Rashid remains the fulcrum of Gujarat’s bowling attack.
